A Family Run Business
DoorCall is a small family-run locksmith and joinery team with more than forty years of hands-on experience. We look after homeowners, landlords and local businesses across Manchester, Stockport and Cheshire, and we’ve built our reputation on honest work, an exceptional service and genuine care for the people we help.
We’re not part of a national franchise and we don’t use call centres. When you get in touch, you speak directly to someone who understands the work and are ready to support you.
Our Story
Craftsmanship and Straightforward Service
DoorCall was founded by Neil Ward, who began his career as an apprentice joiner in 1976. After years of repairing and installing doors, frames, locks and windows across the region, his expertise naturally moved towards specialist lock and door work.
Neil went on to run Neil Ward Joiners and Builders and later Cheadle Doors, before focusing entirely on locks, windows and door repairs. This became the foundation of DoorCall, which is still run by the family today.
Our work has always been about quality, reliability and treating customers fairly. Many people who call us are long standing customers or have been recommended by someone they trust, which means a lot to us.

We pride ourselves on honesty, and delivering results. Our prices are fair and transparent, and we don’t charge any call-out fee’s.

We’re qualified joiners as well as locksmiths, which means we can fix problems other companies simply can’t. If something can be repaired safely, we’ll repair it.

Neil Ward, Founder & Manchster Locksmith
Neil began his career in the construction industry as an apprentice Joiner in 1976, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of building and property services. Neil first setup on his own in 1983, founding Neil Ward Joiners and Builders. Neil began specialising and focusing more on Door related services and ultimately started Cheadle Doors in 1992. Over time, his expertise naturally gravitated toward locks, windows, and doors — areas where he consistently stood out for his attention to detail and problem-solving skills. As demand for his knowledge grew, this specialisation evolved into a dedicated service — and ultimately, into what is now DoorCall. We cover both domestic and commercial properties and are a local support function to estate agents, landlords and property companies.

Locked Out or Need an Emergency Locksmith?
Emergencies do not keep office hours, so neither do we.
If you are stuck outside, have lost your keys, or the lock refuses to turn, call us and we will get to you as quickly as we can.
Most doors can be opened without damage, and we always try a repair first before suggesting a replacement. We will also offer advice over the phone to keep you safe and reassured while we’re on our way.
